Mgahinga Gorilla National Park Adventures

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, situated in the southwestern corner of Uganda, forms part of the Virunga Volcanoes and covers an area of approximately 13,000 acres. It is renowned for being one of the only two parks in Uganda to host the endangered mountain gorillas. The park's landscape is dominated by three extinct volcanoes: Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo, which offer stunning backdrops for its rich biodiversity. Besides gorillas, Mgahinga is home to a variety of wildlife, including golden monkeys, giant forest hogs, and over 180 bird species, many endemic to the Albertine Rift. Historically, the park's area was the ancestral home of the Batwa pygmies, Uganda's indigenous people. Visitors can engage in gorilla trekking, golden monkey tracking, cave explorations, and experience cultural tours with the Batwa community. The park's compact size makes it an easily navigable treasure for outdoor enthusiasts.
